Dimitar Pavlov Voev (1965-1992) founded the New Generation Group in 1987. The band existed in various forms until his death.
As a student, he formed his first group, Paradox, with christian Kostov. They avoided military service by entering a psychiatric clinic. Later, Voev joined the jazz duo “Votce” and the group “Votce and Gorra”.
In 1985, Voev and Vasil Gyurov founded Kale. They debuted at the Sofia Rock Festival in 1987, but were removed from the stage due to explicit lyrics. however, the audience chanted their name in support. Kale disbanded a year later, and Dimitar formed “entrance B,” which was soon renamed “New Generation.” The band became known for hits like “Only Two,” “Ice,” “Patriotic Song,” “Scorpions Dance On their own,” “Arina,” and “Hundred Years.” In 1991, they released their first album, “Forever.” After Voev’s death, the album “Beyond Death” was released, featuring his last recordings.
Dimitar Voev passed away on September 5, 1992, from a brain tumor.
In 1994, a collection of his poems, “Greetings from me,” was published. In 2022, the book “unread” was released, featuring over 100 unpublished texts and 80 archival photographs and drawings from Voev’s notebooks, preserved by his widow, Nelly Nedeva-Voeva. Their daughter, dimitra Voeva, compiled the book.
Even though the songs of “New generation” are almost not released on the radio – his words in his lifetime – and now generations are growing up who know “only two”, “Scorpions dance themselves” and “arina”.
