France’s Minister of Defense, Sébastien Lecornu, recently declared an “unprecedented partnership” where a major french car manufacturer will join forces with a French defense SME to establish drone production lines in Ukraine.

According to Franceinfo, thes production lines will be located “a few tens or hundreds of kilometers from the front,” though the specific sources for this data were not detailed.

The drones, whose specific model remains undisclosed, will primarily serve the Ukrainian army. Though, Sébastien Lecornu stated on Friday that the French armies will also benefit, gaining “a tactical, operative training that sticks to reality” of the conflict in Ukraine.

Ukraine aims to deploy over 4.5 million drones in 2025, which they claim are responsible for 70% of enemy equipment destruction on the front lines.

The French army, currently possessing a few thousand drones, is actively seeking to expand its capabilities in this area.
