by Archynetys World Desk

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, gave an interview this Sunday, November 2, where he spoke about Nicolás Maduro and the operations that are being carried out in the Caribbean near Venezuela.

A journalist from the media ‘60 Minutes‘, from the CBS network, asked Trump: “Are Maduro’s days as president numbered?”, to which he responded: “I would say yes, I think so”.

Additionally, Trump downplayed fears of an imminent conflict against Venezuela’s dictator: “I doubt it. I don’t believe it”he said when asked if the United States would enter the war.

The United States deployed eight ships of its Navy to the Caribbeansent F-35 stealth fighter jets to Puerto Rico and an aircraft carrier strike group is headed to the region – a military force that Washington says seeks to combat drug trafficking.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio conveyed the same message in response to a Miami Herald article, which stated that Washington’s forces were ready to attack Venezuela.

“Their ‘sources’, who claim to have ‘knowledge of the situation’, They were tricked into writing a fake news story.“Rubio stated in a publication in X.

At the beginning of September, the United States began a campaign of attacks against vessels supposedly dedicated to drug trafficking in the Caribbean and the eastern Pacific, which has left at least 62 dead and destroyed 14 ships and a semi-submersible.

The Trump administration presents the small boats as a threat to the national security of the United States, due to the drugs they supposedly transport. But experts say the attacks constitute extrajudicial executions, even if they are proven drug traffickers.

In addition to the military resources deployed in the region, Washington has carried out multiple shows of force with B-52 and B-1B bombers flying over near the coast of Venezuela.

The most recent took place last Monday, October 27. Regional tensions have intensified as a result of attacks and military deployment.

Venezuela claims that the United States is plotting to overthrow dictator Madurowho accuses Washington of “manufacturing a war.”
