A number of facts have been revealed regarding the murder case of a female lecturer with the initials EY (37) in Bungo, Jambi. A member of the Tebo Police, Bripda Waldi (22), who is the suspected perpetrator of the rape and murder, tried to eliminate traces after the incident.

“This perpetrator is tenacious and cunning. So there is no evidence yet, it’s impossible for him to admit it. Although we are not pursuing the perpetrator’s confession,” said Bungo Police Chief AKBP Natalena Eko Cahyono, Sunday (2/11/2025), as quoted from detikSumbagsel.

EY was murdered at his home in Sungai Mengkuang Hamlet, Central Rimbo District, Bungo Regency. The body of the young lecturer was found by residents at around 13.00 WIB on Saturday (1/11/2025).

The police moved to track down the perpetrator by forming a special team. It didn’t take long for the police to arrest Bripda Waldi, who is a member of the Tebo Police Propam Non-Commissioned Officer. Bripda Waldi was arrested in the Central Tebo area, Tebo Regency, Jambi, on Sunday (2/11/2025).

Natalena said the disclosure was based on the investigators’ thoroughness when looking for clues that led to the perpetrator. Because, he said, Bripda Waldi was still trying to cover up the case when he was arrested.

According to Natalena, Bripda Waldi had time to clean up traces at the crime scene (TKP). Apart from that, Bripda Waldi also took away the victim’s iPhone, jewelry, Honda Jazz car and PCX motorbike.

“This perpetrator is tenacious and cunning. Why? Yes, because from the start of this process the perpetrator tried to remove traces, had to mop or wipe, so the traces are very difficult if only based on the existing crime scene,” he added.

Disguise Using a Wig

Natalena revealed that Bripda Waldi also tried to disguise himself by using a wig or toupee after killing the victim. This is based on monitoring camera or CCTV footage and the suitability of witness statements from the victim’s neighbors.

“So it is identical to the testimony of witnesses in front of the house or to the side that the perpetrator was long-haired. It is true that this perpetrator was wearing a wig or fake hair,” he added.

Meanwhile, the victim’s friend admitted that he still received a reply to a message from the victim on Saturday morning. The police suspect that the perpetrator responded to the message, because that morning the victim was thought to have died.

“The victim’s cellphone was in the car. So, there was a WA with one of the witnesses, the victim’s friend. When the person answered that morning, we thought he was no longer the victim. We had already called him and he didn’t answer. From there we carried out developments, from there we knew who the perpetrator was,” said Natalena.

Police await autopsy results

Natalena emphasized that the police are still waiting for the results of the victim’s autopsy. Based on the temporary post-mortem, the police found bruises on the victim’s face, neck, shoulders and a wound on the victim’s head. Apart from that, the autopsy also confirmed the suspicion of rape, because sperm was found in the victim’s trousers.

“The forensic doctor from Bhayangkara Regional Police Hospital, Jambi was brought in to carry out an autopsy at Hanafie Bungo Hospital,” he said.

Police are still investigating the alleged involvement of other perpetrators in this murder. The police have also confiscated the victim’s car, iPhone and jewelry which were controlled by the perpetrator. Meanwhile, the victim’s Honda PCX motorbike was found in front of the Hanafie Bungo Hospital parking lot.

Previously, the police revealed that the murder of the Head of the Undergraduate Nursing Study Program at the Setih Setio Institute of Administration and Health (IAKSS), Muaro Bungo, was allegedly triggered by romantic problems.

“The temporary motive is thought to be a personal problem and a romantic relationship between the perpetrator and the victim. Currently, investigators are still investigating other possible motives,” said Natalena.
