United States (US) President Donald Trump warned Iran that time is running out for the country to avoid US military intervention. The warning came after Tehran refused to open the door to negotiations amid rising tensions.
Reported by AFP, Wednesday (28/1/2026), Trump emphasized that he had never ruled out the possibility of a new attack on Iran, following the brutal crackdown on a wave of protests this month. Tensions are also still triggered by the impact of the 12-day war last June between Iran and Israel which was supported and participated in by the US.
“Hopefully Iran will soon ‘Come to the Negotiating Table’ and negotiate a fair and equitable deal – without nuclear weapons – a deal that is good for all parties. Time is running out, this really is very important!” Trump said.

Referring to the American attacks on Iranian nuclear targets during the June war which he said resulted in Iran’s “major destruction”, he added: “The next attack will be much worse! Don’t let it happen again”.
Analysts say available options include strikes on military facilities or targeted strikes against the leadership under Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a full-scale effort to topple the system that has ruled Iran since the 1979 Islamic revolution that ousted the shah.
Iran Denies Trump About Asking for Negotiations
Iranian authorities have emphasized that they have not asked for negotiations with the United States (US), as tensions between the two countries increase. This assertion refutes statements by US President Donald Trump, who has claimed several times that Tehran contacted Washington to ask for dialogue.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as reported by Reuters, Wednesday (28/1/2026), said that he had not had contact with Trump’s Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, in the last few days or asked for negotiations.
“There has been no contact between me and Witkoff in the last few days, and no request for negotiations has been made from us,” said Araghchi while speaking to Iranian state media, Wednesday (28/1) local time.
