Train Music Fine: €100 Penalty for No Headphones

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

Take advantage of a calm and relatively silent journey. In Ireland, travelers who do not use headphones or headphones to listen to music or watch a video are now risking a fine of 100 euros, reports The Journal.

The Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) railway company recently launched a campaign reminding its users the good behavior to be adopted in its trains and the risks involved in offenders. And sharing with all the wagon his favorite playlist or his series of the moment can now cost dear.

Avoid “bare beating”

Controllers will be able to distribute the fines themselves. Punishment is based on a 1984 regulation, never entered into force, which prohibits the use on the train of “any gramophone, wireless apparatus or television stretching to other travelers”, specifies CNN.

The idea is to banish the “Bare Beating“, this trend is to enjoy video or audio content publicly in public transport. “Social norms diverge on this subject,” admits a spokesperson for the railway company. “Listening to music without headphones does not affect security, but that can disrupt what should be a pleasant journey. »»

The railway company took the opportunity to recall other prohibited behaviors in its trains: vaping, traveling with an electric scooter or even putting its feet or bag on an unoccupied seat. A newsletter has been sent and posters will be installed in the stations to inform and educate passengers.
