by drbyos

The Dow Jones index continued to decline. It recently fell more than 100 points as investors keep an eye on the performance of listed companies.

As of 10:43 pm Thai time, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was at 38,354.96 points, down 148.73 points or 0.39%.

Investors will be watching the earnings of several major companies this week, including Intel Corp., Microsoft Corp., Apple Inc. and Alphabet Inc., while Meta Platforms Inc. disclosed operating results after the market closed today.

More than 25% of S&P 500 companies have released Q1 2024 earnings, with 79% of those companies beating analyst estimates.

Investors will also be watching the release of the Personal Consumption Expenditure (PCE) price index on Friday, which will indicate the direction of US interest rates.

The PCE index is the Fed’s preferred measure of inflation. Because it can detect changes in consumer behavior and covers the prices of goods and services more widely than the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Analysts expect the Headline PCE Index, which includes food and energy categories, to increase 2.6% in March year on year from 2.5% in February.

(Reuters) – Biogen exceeded market projections for its first-quarter earnings, showcasing a strong performance despite ⁣intense competition for its existing ⁣medications. This‍ achievement led to a nearly⁣ 7% increase⁤ in the company’s stock value.

Positive Growth in Alzheimer’s Drug Sales

Campaigning In The American Steel Capital, Biden Attacks…

2024-04-18 04:49:03

Joe Biden announced on Wednesday that he wanted to triple customs duties on steel and aluminum from China, a political choice aimed at the American working class whom he is trying to seduce this week by campaigning in Pennsylvania.

The Democrat accused Beijing of “cheating” in the global steel trade, harming American manufacturers and their employees, a key electorate for the November presidential election which will see him face, barring any surprises, his rival Donald Trump .

“They are xenophobic,” Joe Biden said in a speech from the headquarters of the USW in Pittsburgh, the historic US steel capital.

The Democrat lamented that Chinese steel companies “don’t have to worry about making a profit because the Chinese government subsidizes them heavily.”

“They are not competing, they are cheating. And we have seen the damage here in America,” said the man who claims to be the best ally of American workers.

“I am not looking for a confrontation with China, I want competition, but fair competition,” Joe Biden further clarified, assuring that there would be no “trade war” with Beijing.

INVESTIGATION. Citrons Produced In Russia, Stellantis Victim Of…

A mysterious company has resumed production of Citroën C5 Aircross at the former Russian Stellantis factory, with the help of Chinese manufacturer Dongfeng. The French manufacturer claims to have lost control of the site, and finds itself powerless in the face of this affair which mixes economic and geopolitical interests.

The citroen.ru website has all the appearance of an official manufacturer website. In the “cars in stock” section, it announces that 96 “Russian” Citroën C5 Aircrosses are currently available for sale. However, neither this site nor these cars displaying the chevrons of the French brand have anything to do with Stellantis, the group resulting from the merger of Peugeot-Citroën and Fiat-Chrysler. The war in Ukraine, international sanctions and the Kremlin’s policies have freed Russia from the rules of the global economic game and make possible such acts of industrial piracy that seemed unthinkable until recently.

To understand how this became possible, we have to go back to April 2022, two months after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Stellantis then announced the shutdown of its Kaluga factory, 200 km southwest of Moscow, due to “the logistical difficulties encountered on a daily basis” and “in order to guarantee full compliance with all sanctions”.

US Court To Review Regulation On Phantom Weapons

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday agreed to take up an appeal by President Joe Biden’s administration over regulations on hard-to-trace firearms that had been struck down by lower courts.

The judges, by 5 votes in favor and 4 against, had previously intervened to keep the regulations in force during the legal dispute. So-called ghost guns, which lack serial numbers, have been turning up at crime scenes with increasing regularity.

The regulation, which took effect in 2022, changed the definition of a firearm under federal law to include unfinished parts, such as the frame of a handgun or the receiver of a long gun, so they can be more easily traced. Those parts must be licensed and include serial numbers. Manufacturers must also perform background checks before a sale, as they do with other commercially manufactured firearms.

The requirement applies regardless of how the gun was manufactured, meaning it includes ghost guns made from individual parts or kits or using 3D printers. The rule does not prohibit people from purchasing a kit or any type of firearm.

The Justice Department had told the court that authorities seized more than 19,000 ghost guns at crime scenes in 2021,

Tesla Driver Infuriates With Rest In Peace, DVG…

#Tesla #driver #infuriates #Rest #peace #DVG #number

Fans of electric cars applaud it, others find it silly

A TESLA driver has sparked outrage on social media after a hidden message was spotted on an electric car’s license plate. Model S was spotted in Adelaide (South Australia) stopped at a traffic light. The driver behind took a photo and posted it on Facebook.

The license plate reads RIP ICE. The author of the photo commented that it was “quite suitable for an EV”. However, Daily Mail Australia analyzes that the rest of the opinion is divided on whether the number is original or a dumb decision.

Another Tesla driver in Australia also found a way to pick on the good old internal combustion engines

One of them read: “Sales of CNG vehicles are falling, this will destroy them.” Another added: “Wow! This is the best registration number. I like him”.

But some didn’t like the number plate so much and thought it was “lame”. “Yeah, I’d rather not play with the bear.

How Often Should Bed Linen Be Changed?

If you want your sleep to be deep and sweet, and the bedroom environment to be cozy, fresh and fragrant, then regular bed linen change is essential. However, although this work is very important in order to ensure proper hygiene, a significant number of people do not know exactly when and how often the bed linen should be changed and how it should be properly maintained. If you too have faced this situation, don’t worry! In this article, we will provide all the necessary information about bedding care, so let’s not wait anything and get started! Why is it so important to change bed linen on time?

Bedding is a home textile that not only protects the blanket, mattress or pillow from stains, but also has direct contact with skin cells, sweat, dust or allergens that accumulate in the bedroom. All this can lead to various skin irritations, the appearance of acne, cause allergies or even attract dust mites, which feed on organic matter that accumulates on the covers. If you want to avoid all this, it is necessary to change the bedding in time. If this is not done, the sebum or sweat released by the skin during the night can seep through the covers and get into the blanket,

Inter, Not Just Pimco: The Saudis Look At…

Listen to the audio version of the article

A two-step plan for the shareholding future of Inter, fresh from the Scudetto. The first move seems within reach. Within two weeks, probably the first week of May, Inter president Steven Zhang could announce a new refinancing agreement upstream of the Nerazzurri club’s control chain. In fact, the 275 million euros loaned by the Californian financial group Oaktree 3 years ago, a Pik-type credit line expiring on May 20th, need to be refinanced. It is a total of 380 million, if interest is added.

Refinancing

Negotiations are in fact underway with the US group Pimco, an asset management giant. The refinancing agreement only needs to be signed, but the negotiations are said to be at a good stage. The basis of the negotiations with Pimco would be focused on a 400 million euro loan with a rate more or less equal to that granted by Oaktree in the last 3 years, i.e. 12 percent. In the meantime, Oaktree, which is not yet totally excluded from the matter, has set its own conditions: that is, a refinancing with a shorter time horizon.

In any case, in financial circles,
