MDR Asks: Clear Majority For Return Of Compulsory…

Majority calls for compulsory military service to be returned

In This is met with a majority of support from the MDRfragt community, as the mood in the MDRfragt opinion barometer shows: The majority of the almost 25,000 respondents are demanding a return to compulsory military service. However, more than a third reject their reactivation.

The response is greatest among those who were or are currently in the army as part of compulsory military service or professionally.

The “yes” or “no” to compulsory military service often hides very different arguments from the survey participants.

Unfortunately, as long as despots like Putin come to power, we have to defend ourselves.

Uwe (57) from Leipzig

MDRfragt member Eckhard (67) from Schmalkalden-Meiningen can certainly understand that compulsory military service was suspended over 10 years ago. He writes: “In 2011, the development of the current security and threat situation was not yet foreseeable. One could already get the impression that states in Europe would no longer attack each other with armies in order to assert their interests. In this respect, the use of resources seemed to be elsewhere to be more useful than in the Bundeswehr.”

But now,

The new leaders of this West African country asked the US to withdraw nearly 1,000 military personnel from Niger. Before last year’s coup, Niger remained an important partner of the United States in the fight against terrorism.

An anonymous senior US defense official said Russian forces used a private compound at Air Force Base 101, next to Diori Hamani international airport in Niamey, the capital of Niger.

This brings the Russian and American militaries closer together, at a time when diplomatic and military competition between the two countries is increasingly fierce over the conflict in Ukraine.

It also raises questions about the fate of American facilities after the withdrawal.

“(The situation) is not serious and can be managed in the short term,” the official said.

The US and its allies were forced to withdraw troops from several African countries,

Mom, Im Afraid Of Bill 21!

#Mom #afraid #Bill

“When you want to kill your dog, you say it has rabies,” says the adage…

Ditto for law 21.

When we want to incite the population against Quebec’s timid law on secularism, we say that the Legault government’s decision to use the derogation clause preventively to renew it constitutes a threat to democracy.

“Today, we use the notwithstanding clause to prevent citizens from wearing religious symbols at work. But what will tomorrow be? Quebec will evade the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms to prohibit abortion?

Tonight we scare the world

Do you think I’m exaggerating? That I butter thick?

That I invent monsters to scare children?

No. This is the new argument that opponents of Law 21 are bringing out to decry its adoption.

This is what the president of the FAE, who will challenge Bill 21 before the Supreme Court, alongside the English Montreal School Board, says.

“Today, the escape clause seems to be used more and more easily, for all sorts of reasons. One day, anti-abortion lobbies could even push a government to use this approach to limit women’s rights…”

This is also what the chronicler of The Press Vincent Brousseau-Pouliot.

Tragic Discovery: Bodies Of Missing Surfers Found Shot…

Three tourists were found dead in Mexico recently, shocking the international community. The victims – Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson, and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad – were on a surfing trip in Ensenada when they disappeared on April 27. Their bodies were found dumped in a well, with authorities confirming that they had been shot in the head.

Authorities believe that the men were attacked while trying to stop the theft of their pickup truck. The assailants wanted the vehicle for its tires and resorted to violence when the tourists resisted. The bodies were found near the site of the attack, along with abandoned tents, a burnt truck, and a phone linked to the missing surfers.

While this horrific incident is undoubtedly a tragedy, it also sheds light on the broader issue of violence in the region. Baja California, where Ensenada is located, is known for its high crime rates, particularly related to drug trafficking. This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers tourists and locals face in the area.

However, it is important to note that Ensenada is considered safer than other parts of Baja California and has long been a popular destination for tourists,

#Mysterious #abdication #mayor #Telgárt #left #suddenly #left #letter #Regions #News

Was he “full of teeth”? The container town in Telgárt, where more than a hundred settlers have been living since November, still has problems. Some praise the new housing, but many grumble that even twelve are crowded in one cell and interpersonal relations are strained. They demanded more and more from the mayor, while others in the village blamed him for helping only the Roma. After pressure from both sides, he apparently could not stand it and resigned.

Jozef Štajer was the mayor in Telgárt for the first election period, but he did not “hold out” the position until its end. We did not learn from him the reason why he decided to give up. He didn’t answer our phone calls for a few weeks before. When he finally picked up after a short ring, we were a little surprised. However, we immediately learned that there was someone else on the other end of the call – namely the deputy mayor Vasil Černák. He explained to us that last week Štajer left a computer-written letter to the female workers at the municipal office saying that he was resigning.
