Teen Suffers Horrific Allergic Reaction to Botched Filler Injection

A young teen’s life took a dangerous turn after he received an improperly administered filler injection. Charlie Michael Baker, then 17, was lured into receiving free treatments and now faces lifelong consequences due to a series of severe allergic reactions.

Baker described his initial symptoms as red spots on his face, which gradually progressed into a full-body rash. “The condition became progressively worse until Charlie’s entire body was covered with psoriasis,” he stated.

The lack of proper regulation in the aesthetic industry poses significant risks to consumers. Before Baker received his treatments, he was not asked for identification, nor was he tested for allergies, both critical precautions before undergoing any medical procedure.

Baker’s experience highlights the importance of thorough pre-procedural evaluations, including patch tests, to identify potential allergic reactions. “It’s concerning that the clinic did not follow basic safety protocols,” Baker said. “This is for older, wrinkle-prone skin, I was 17. They didn’t ask for any identification.”

Long-Term Impact on Charlie’s Life

The allergic reaction caused Charlie’s psoriasis to become chronic, a condition he will have for the rest of his life. “It’s a chronic disorder, I will have it for the rest of my life,” Baker said.

The initial reaction was misdiagnosed as food allergies, leading Charlie down a path of ineffective treatments. Not only was he prescribed creams by his GP that failed to alleviate his symptoms, but he was advised to change his diet to avoid severe reactions.

“It was awful,” Baker recalled. “I was having facials, she gave me a skincare product that’s used after chemical peels, so immediately my mind was racing thinking she’s given me a chemical burn.”
