Al-Marsad newspaper: Syrian television revealed the type of gift presented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which was covered with a green curtain inside a box in the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus.
Syrian TV reported that the piece is modern and is not more than two to three years old. It is a piece of a modern curtain for the Holy Kaaba and not the complete curtain, and it will be clearly displayed in one of the corners of the Umayyad Mosque for visitors.
Social media users were circulating rumors that the green curtain was the curtain of the Kaaba, which dates back to the Umayyad era.
Syrian TV said that the box covered with a green curtain inside the Umayyad Mosque is an official gift presented by King Salman, and will be unveiled on December 8 during the Liberation Day celebrations.
