by drbyos

On the day we celebrate the 50th anniversary of April 25th, democracy still does not satisfy 51% of Portuguese people, especially women and young people. On the side of the 47% who say they are satisfied, there are more than half of older people, according to an Aximage survey for JN, DN and TSF.

The survey results differ depending on who responds: For example, among those with higher incomes, the evaluation is better (55%), but for those with lower incomes, dissatisfaction is greater (56%).

Voters from the two largest parties give a positive assessment of democracy (64% among socialists), but those who vote for the smaller parties give a negative assessment (67% among Chega).

Armed Forces and police with positive balance

According to the same survey, the degree of dissatisfaction among Portuguese people is matched by their trust (or lack thereof) in institutions. Here, only the Armed Forces (65%) and the police (64%) register a positive balance.

The Presidency of the Republic is in 3rd place, but already with a negative balance: when analyzing the different segments of the sample, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa only achieves a positive balance among the oldest and among AD, PS and IL voters .

At the bottom of the table are the Parliament, the Government, courts and judges and local authorities, all with distrust levels above 60%, with emphasis on the Assembly of the Republic which registers 65%.
