The Coir Board under the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has invited applications for various training courses for upskilling in the coir sector. Admissions are now open for two major courses starting in February 2026.

Training courses

  • Artisan in Coir Technology (Certificate Course): It includes a six-month course and a one-month internship. Those who can read and write can apply for the course.
  • Diploma in Advanced Coir Technology: The training consists of a one-year course and a three-month internship. Those who have passed plus two or pre-degree can apply.

Other information

Age Limit: Age between 18 to 50 years can apply.

Reservation: 20 percent of the total seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes. Preference will be given to sponsoring Coir Factories or Societies.

Benefits: 3000 per month for selected trainees A stipend of Rs.

Accommodation: Free hostel facilities are available at Bhubaneswar, Thanjavur and Alappuzha (for women only). 500 per month will be allowed to the eligible candidates residing abroad.

Training centers

Training is conducted at rope board centers at Alappuzha (Kerala), Thanjavur (Tamil Nadu), Bhubaneswar (Odisha) and Rajamahendri (Andhra Pradesh).

How to Apply

Interested candidates can visit the official website of Coir Board and download the application form. Applications can be submitted till January 10. Copies of certificates proving educational qualification, age and work experience should be attached along with the application. Shortlisted candidates will have to submit character certificate from two gazetted officers, Aadhaar card and bank details at the time of admission.
