DownDetector registered a surge in reports for services like Spotify, Discord, Snapchat, Etsy, UPS, and OpenAI during the outage.Some of these companies directly acknowledged the disruptions to their users. Snapchat acknowledged the ongoing issues on its support page.OpenAI has posted that users may have trouble logging in due to “issues affecting multiple external internet providers.” Even online games such as the Pokemon Trading Card Game and Pokemon Go experienced connectivity problems.
While AWS also saw increased reports on DownDetector, Amazon stated that it was not experiencing broad service issues, directing users to its AWS Health Dashboard for accurate status updates.
Service Restoration and Remaining issues
Most services had returned to normal operation by 5 PM ET. Reports of outages for spotify, Snapchat and discord decreased significantly. Google indicated that its products were recovering across multiple regions and anticipated full recovery within an hour. Though, as of 7:13 PM ET, Google noted that some Google Cloud components, including Google Cloud Dataflow, Vertex AI Online Prediction, and Personalized Service Health, were still facing “residual impact,” with no firm timeline for complete resolution.
