In particular, songs by US pop star Taylor Swift and Berlin rapper Pashanim are popular among Spotify users in Thuringia. The two artists recorded the most streams on the music provider’s platform in the Free State, as the company announced. The nu-metal band Linkin Park from the USA came in third.
Spotify lists the most streamed musicians, songs, albums and podcasts at the regional level at the end of the year. The company does not specify the exact observation period. However, counting takes place for around a year and the results are published shortly before the end of the year. In addition, Spotify users should now be able to see their personal annual review again using the “Wrapped” function.
Song by Zartmann and animated film soundtrack popular
Users in Thuringia played “Tau mich auf” by the indie pop singer Zartmann particularly often, followed by “Wackelkontakt” by the Bavarian singer Oimara. The third most streamed song was Alex Warren’s “Ordinary”.
The phenomenon “KPop Demon Hunters” did not go unnoticed in Thuringia: the soundtrack to the successful animated musical film on the streaming service Netflix was the most streamed album. In second place comes “From Zero” by Linkin Park and “Schönhauser EP” by Zartmann.
“Hack”, “Murder” and “Mustard” as podcast hits
The people of Thuringia don’t just let music reach their ears: “Mixed Hack” by comedian Felix Lobrecht and presenter Tommi Schmitt was the most frequently streamed podcast. The true crime podcast “Mordlust – Crimes and Their Backgrounds” by journalists Paulina Krasa and Laura Wohlers came in second. This was followed by the Kaulitz twins, Bill and Tom, with their format “Kaulitz Hills – Mustard from Hollywood”.
Spotify is the market leader in music streaming services. The number of users has increased again this year and is currently around 713 million monthly active listeners. The annual review “Wrapped” is a popular format that is widely shared on social media.
In addition to Spotify, there are other streaming services such as Deezer, Tidal, Apple Music or YouTube Music. Many musicians have long criticized the fact that they are not paid enough for their music from providers like Spotify. The remuneration varies depending on the provider and artist.
