Sony has confirmed the long-awaited release date for its WF-1000XM6 headphones. Dubbed rather grandly as the “next generation of headphones”, Sony has also offered a look at their design. The successors to the WF-1000XM5 can now be seen in two colors thanks to recent leaks.

Sony has finally confirmed that it is about to launch new headphones. For context, the announcement comes just over two weeks after Sony globally launched the LinkBuds Clip. From the looks of it, Sony’s next pair of headphones will be higher-end alternatives to the LinkBuds Clip.

Sony will present its “next generation of headphones” on February 12 at 16:00 UTC. While Sony may remain silent until then, Monday’s leak has already revealed key elements of the design. Compared with the current WF-1000XM5, the WF-100XM6 adopts a more compact shape and a narrower charging case.

However, it seems that Sony has improved the active noise cancellation (ANC) or its transparent mode between generations, given the inclusion of an additional microphone grill. The WF-1000XM6 are expected to go on sale for $329.99 in the US and €299.99 in the Eurozone. Sony will reportedly offer the headphones in three color options; although at the moment only two have been leaked.
