Skoda revisits its past, reimagining the iconic Favorite as a modern electric crossover, blending classic design with contemporary styling.

Damage Favorite – ljudmil Slavov 2025 Designer Škoda turned the favorite into an electric crossover. However, it preserved the proportions of the original from the 1980s and some simplicity that was its own hatchback.
The Favorite, a pivotal car in the history of the Mladá Boleslav car manufacturer, has been reimagined by designer Ljudmil Slavov. This modern hatchback, originally with front-wheel drive and a Bertone body, played a crucial role in securing the company’s future within the Volkswagen Group. the Favorite’s story, developed in the 1980s under challenging conditions, intrigued Slavov, a designer within the automaker’s stylistic team.

Slavov decided to reimagine the Favorite, introduced in 1987, applying the current stylistic language of Modern Solid.”The energy that shines from the project at that time, and the effort that led to a successful outcome that captivated in the West also reminds me a bit of my studies and how I needed to kick out occasionally,” says the designer. Immersed in the project, Slavov dedicated approximately 120 hours to it, resulting in an electric crossover that diverges from the classic hatchback form.

“I wanted to update the idea of the original model to date, in which the SUV is very popular. I also thought that my favorite would be an electric car, while the higher building facilitates the placement of batteries in the floor,” he adds. Updating the shape of the Favorite presented challenges. “I didn’t want to use current elements, such as Tech-Deck Face. This is to be a favorite celebration, so I traced his original details and tried to work with them and move them to a higher level. To be honest, even very clean and simple shapes into the modern Solid style gave me a hard time.”
