Luiz Phillipi Machado de Moraes Mourão, suspected of leading an alleged personal militia of former banker Daniel Vorcaro, tried to take his own life at the Federal Police Regional Superintendence, in Minas Gerais, on Wednesday (4).
The Federal Police even announced the death of the suspect, nicknamed “Sicário” (a term derived from Spanish for hired killer) in messages revealed by the investigation. At 10pm on Wednesday, however, the corporation clarified that the death had not been confirmed.
“The PF does not confirm the news published in the press that attests to the death of the prisoner. Information about the prisoner’s health status will be provided after an update from the medical team”, he said in a statement.

The State Department of Health of Minas Gerais reported that Mourão remains under care at the ICU (Intensive Care Center) of Hospital João XXIII, in Belo Horizonte.

The hospital began the protocol to confirm brain death, which requires a series of tests.
Upon noticing the suicide attempt, federal police officers rescued the person in custody and began resuscitation procedures in the Regional Superintendence cell. Samu (Mobile Emergency Care Service) was called and took Mourão to the hospital.

The suspect codenamed “Sicário” was arrested in the third phase of Operation Compliance Zero, which investigates fraud at Banco Master, on Wednesday. He is identified as a kind of spy for Daniel Vorcaro, also in prison.

The group would have invaded systems of the Federal Police, the MPF (Federal Public Ministry and even international organizations, such as the FBI (United States Federal Department of Investigation) and Interpol.

In one of the conversations, Daniel Vorcaro suggests that his partner simulate a robbery to “break all the teeth” of journalist Lauro Jardim.
Mourão’s suicide attempt was reported to the office of minister André Mendonça, rapporteur of the Master case at the STF, and the Federal Police will hand over all video records of the incident. The corporation must also open proceedings to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
