Moscow, Jun 25 – RIA Novosti. Deputies of the State Duma from the LDPR, headed by the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Social Policy, Yaroslav Nilov, will submit a bill to improving the size of state scholarships to the subsistence minimum per capita in Russia as a whole, the bill is at the disposal of RIA Novosti. “It is proposed to establish that the size of state scholarships appointed to students, graduate students, orders, assistants who are studying in full -time education at the expense of budgetary appropriations of the federal budget cannot be lower in accordance with the federal law of the subsistence minimum per capita in the Russian Federation,” the explanatory note to the bill said. The document clarifies that from September 1, 2024, in Russia, the minimum amount of the state academic scholarship for university students is 2067 rubles a month, for students of secondary vocational education – 539 rubles, a state social scholarship for socially unprotected students in universities – 3104 rubles, and 809 rubles in osuzes. It is noted that the sums of scholarships are currently not responsible for those goals for which, in accordance with federal legislation, they have been introduced. “It is impossible to live on such a scholarship, therefore, according to the Higher School of Economics, more than half of the students, one way or another, combines study and work. This takes time from classes, and sometimes forces a promising student to throw a university or go on an academic vacation, which affects the quality of education,” the explanatory document says. It is emphasized that the adoption of the bill will ensure the possibility of students to obtain a scholarship at an adequate level corresponding to modern realities, and improve the quality of education in Russia. “The basic scholarship in Russian universities today is still perceived as a mockery of economic realities. A year ago, in February 2024, the Ministry of Education and Science sent recommendations to universities-to secure the amount of academic and social scholarships at the level of a no less living wage. However, this initiative has not yet gone beyond the recommendations. But one grade of science is full. And what to do to students to satisfy at least elementary life needs?

The government is ready to consider the idea of increasing students’ scholarships
