SBY’s Oslo Conference Joke: A ‘Save Our World’ Call to Action

The 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), told the background of the song “Save Our World” which is now presented in a music video. He said the song “Save Our World” has actually been created since 2010 when he attended an international conference on the environment and climate in Oslo, Norwegia.

SBY said that in the launch of the music video “Save Our World” which involved 35 cross -generation singers and genres. He hopes that the song will become a lighter for every party to move to save the earth.

“After Indonesia was the host of COP (Conference of the Parties) 13 which was held in Bali in 2007, almost failed the meeting. However, I with my close friend Ban Ki-Moon, together to save and born Bali Roadmap, Leading to then Paris Climate Agreement,” SBY said at the Ballroom Djakarta Theater, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (1/7/2025).

SBY said that threats related to climate change were very real. The government he led then played an active role in voicing it to attend an international conference on Climate and Forestry in Norway.

“Therefore, finally the government I led was more active. To save this earth. In 2010 I was invited by my close friend, Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg to hold an International Conference on Climate and Forestry,” said SBY.

At this moment SBY told me that the inspiration for song creation was obtained after the conference at Oslo. He joked where he was in Oslo Norwegia, not Solo.

“I (Jens) became co-chair chairman together, tried by world leaders, including those who are now king, King Charles is also present. His enthusiasm, how to save our environment, to save our forest. That is after 3 days 3 nights in Oslo, not Solo, Oslo yes,” said SBY accompanied by laughter from the event visitors.

“Before returning to Jakarta, I was inspired because of his extraordinary enthusiasm. Why not, I wrote the song. So in the morning before leaving for Jakarta, accompanied by the late Mrs. Ani, playing the guitar and created this song,” he added
