Al-Marsad newspaper: Saud Al-Shaibani, cousin of the bandit “Rashash,” during an interview with the “Al-Liwan” program, narrated the details of his participation in the case of kidnapping a foreign hostage in Sana’a.
He said: “It was not a kidnapping. It was a specific request for my cousin – may God have mercy on him – and I did not know him, nor did he know me. One day, while I was sitting in the store in Sanaa, Muhammad came to me and told me that he had been in Yemen for months, and did not know anything about his country, and asked for my help in sending a letter to his family. Indeed, I helped him send it, and he gave the man who helped him a reward. Then he came to me again with the same request, wanting to send a letter to his family, so I took the letter to send it.”
He added: “One day, my cousin was imprisoned, and they asked us to hand over the foreigner in exchange for his release. Indeed, we went to the embassy and brought the foreigner. Then, the Yemeni president at the time, Ali Abdullah Saleh, said: Bring the kidnapper and the kidnapped to me within 24 hours. Three days after his intervention, my cousin was with me.”
