Road Safety Head to Deputy Minister: Appointment News

The former head of the State Road Safety Agency, Malina Krumova, has been appointed Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth from December 1, 2025.

There is no official announcement about Krumova’s new appointment. Part of the media found out about him after checking the administrative register of the Council of Ministers.

A week ago, the Council of Ministers only announced that Malina Krumova was released from the position of chairperson of the DABDP, which she has held since the creation of this agency, and in her place the government appointed her deputy, Boyko Ranovski, as a temporary acting post. No reasons were given at the time for this change.

Now it becomes clear that Krumova is now Tomislav Donchev‘s deputy minister, appointed by order of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov.

She replaces Prof. Dr. Georgi Angelov. The remaining deputy ministers in the MIR structure are Martin Danovski and Krasimir Yakimov.

As deputy minister, Malina Krumova will assist the minister in the implementation of the government’s political program in the field of innovation and growth, in the development of draft regulations and in the implementation of his powers.

Almost the entire professional path of Malina Krumova has been in the state administration. In 2007, she joined the Ministry of Environment and Water as an expert in the Managing Authority of the “Environment” operational program and two years later became its head. In the period March – May 2013, he was the Deputy Minister of Environment and Water. She was acting Deputy Prime Minister for European funds in the government of Prof. Ognyan Gerdzhikov in 2017, and then Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works in the third government of Boyko Borisov. He is leaving this post to become the first head of the Road Safety Agency in February 2019.

The energy holding replaced the head of ESO

The state enterprise “Electricity System Operator” ESO now has a new director. This is the until recently chairman of the supervision of the state gas operator “Bulgartransgaz” Kiril Georgiev. The longtime head of ESO, Angelin Tsachev, has been released.

The reasons for Tsachev’s withdrawal are not clear, he has applied to the owner – BEH, for early release.
