Authorities warn of disruptions caused by snow

Eight districts on the continent are under yellow warning on Friday and Saturday due to possible snowfall, warns the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), which predicts periods of rain for the entire country.

The yellow warning, the least serious on a scale of three, applies between 9pm on Friday and 12pm on Saturday, covering the districts of Braga, Bragança, Castelo Branco, Guarda, Porto, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real and Viseu.

The IPMA predicts snowfall above 1,100 meters, with accumulation that could be up to five centimeters above 1,200 meters. In the districts of Castelo Branco and Guarda the forecast is for snowfall above 1,200 meters, with accumulation that could be up to 10 centimeters above 1,600 m
