After weeks of uncertainty, it is now clear what caused the death of US actor Peter Greene. The New York City coroner’s office has completed its investigation.

US actor Peter Greene died on December 12, 2025 at the age of 60. About two months later, the New York City coroner’s office announced the cause of death. Accordingly, he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the left armpit area.

As the US portal “TMZ” reports, citing the authorities, the brachial artery, which is crucial for the blood supply to the arm and hand, was hit. Investigators officially classified the incident as an accident. According to their findings, the shot went off accidentally.

Greene was discovered lifeless in his Manhattan apartment in mid-December 2025. A neighbor called the police after loud music was coming from the actor’s apartment for a long time and no one responded to knocks. Officials gained access to the apartment and were only able to determine the death of the 60-year-old.

In the 1990s, Peter Greene made a name for himself primarily with roles as antagonists. He became known to a wide audience as mafia boss Dorian Tyrell in “The Mask” alongside Jim Carrey. Also in 1994, he played the character Zed in Quentin Tarantino’s film “Pulp Fiction”. A year later he starred as Redfoot in The Usual Suspects.

Greene also took on supporting roles in later productions, including “Training Day” and “The Bail Cop”. With his striking demeanor, he was often cast as dark and complex characters.
