The “Genios” concert offered by the Castilla-La Mancha Symphony Orchestra this Saturday at the Municipal Auditorium of Puertollano was a masterful fusion of interpretive virtuosity with which tribute was paid to musical genius.
Under the direction of Francisco José Velasco, the audience experienced an evening that went from lyrical intimacy to symphonic plenitude, uniting the figures of Beethoven and the Puertollano violinist Adrián Fernández Moreno, current professor at the Seville Conservatory of Music.
The first part of the concert was dedicated to Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26 by Max Bruch, played by Adrián Fernández with a mastery that combined sensitivity and impeccable technique. His warm sound and his ability to dialogue with the orchestra aroused the recognition of the public, who applauded his performance for a long time. Fernández knew how to extract from the violin all the romantic nuances of the work, from the melodic lyricism to the most virtuosic passages.

The second part featured Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, considered by Wagner to be the “apotheosis of dance.” The orchestra shone in full, offering a vibrant, rhythmically precise and emotionally expansive reading. The Allegretto, with its funereal atmosphere and moving sobriety, contrasted with the jubilant vigor of the final movements, achieving an enthusiastic response among the audience.
The program was completed with an introduction inspired by the “Goyescas”, which brought a Spanish and pictorial air to the ensemble, reinforcing the diverse character of the show. As a culmination, the orchestra offered an encore in which Fernández once again delighted with a brief but intense intervention, which put the finishing touch to a memorable night. The impeccable direction of Francisco José Velasco, the contagious energy of the orchestra and the virtuosity of Fernández in his exciting and precise execution stood out.
The mayor of Puertollano, Miguel Ángel Ruiz, at the end of the brilliant performance, publicly praised and congratulated the director Francisco José Velasco and the Puertollano violinist Adrián Fernández Moreno. “Puertollano can feel very proud to have musicians of the talent of Adrián Fernández and to have welcomed the Castilla La Mancha Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Francisco José Velasco for its excellent level
