The Porrentruy clearance sale will have a special edition this year. It will celebrate its 40th anniversary from August 28 to 30 in the streets of the Bruntrutaine city. The organizing committee presented the broad outlines of the event on Friday. Some 80,000 visitors are expected as well as 200 sellers and fairground dealers. The schedule will be slightly modified for this 2026 vintage with an exceptional extension of one hour, i.e. until 1 a.m. on the night of Sunday to Monday. “We had to fight a little. On Sunday evening, it is mainly the Ajoulots and the Bruntrutains who stay within their walls and it is always difficult at a given moment to say to ourselves that we have to go home,” explains the president of the organizing committee, Eric Pineau.
The guest of honor will be the Neuchâtel Harvest Festival. “It’s very close. They are our neighbors. It is important to have such friendly relations between important holidays,” the official emphasizes. A Neuchâtel float will be part of the traditional Sunday procession.
Numerous artists on the big stage
Regarding the entertainment, the organizing committee has decided to improve the large stage which will remain on rue Pierre-Péquignat, but the smaller one will disappear. “We didn’t really know where to put it, there wasn’t really a strategic place anymore. It was more annoying than anything else and did not work as we wanted,” says Serge Surgand, head of musical programming.
As for the artists, Lovebugs, 3 Cafés Gourmands, Soy Sarita and Le Beau Lac de Bâle will perform on the sale stage. The Bruntrutain Sim’s will also be there with a surprise concert which will retrace his career. Two tribute concerts are also announced on Sunday evening with Eltonology dedicated to Elton John and Merc Johnny. /alr
