Nicolas Jackson’s substitute appearance for Chelsea against Flamengo at teh 2025 Club World Cup was cut short after he received a red card within just four minutes of entering the game.

Chelsea suffered a 3-1 defeat against Flamengo in their second match of Group D at the Club World Cup. The match took place at lincoln Financial Field on Saturday.

Although Pedro Neto initially put Chelsea ahead in the first half, Flamengo responded with three goals to secure the victory.

Bruno Henrique,Danilo,and Wallace Yan each scored for Flamengo. Chelsea were already trailing 2-1 when they were reduced to 10 men in the 68th minute.

Nicolas Jackson was shown a straight red card by the referee for stepping on an opponent’s foot just four minutes after coming on as a substitute for Liam Delap.

Jackson’s contribution was minimal, making only one touch before losing possession and committing the foul that led to his dismissal.

This marks Nicolas Jackson’s second red card in his last four appearances.He was previously sent off against Newcastle United in the 36th week of the Premier League.

According to Squawka, Jackson has accumulated more red cards than goals in the Premier League and Club World Cup in 2025.

Jackson scored one Premier League goal against Everton in April 2025 but missed the final two games due to his red card against Newcastle.

Nicolas Jackson has yet to score in two appearances at the 2025 Club World Cup,though he did provide an assist in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Los Angeles FC in their opening match.
