Mitsubishi Unveils Upgrades to the Xpander MPV

The latest iteration of the Mitsubishi Xpander has been launched, featuring updates to its exterior, interior, and overall performance. According to Mitsubishi, these refinements aim to cater to the needs of modern Indonesian families and their diverse lifestyles.

While the New Xpander incorporates several enhancements, it retains the dimensions that have made the series popular, ensuring continued functionality and comfort for its users.

Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha sales Indonesia (MMKSI) has enhanced the Ultimate variant with the addition of the AYC (Active Yaw Control) feature, previously seen on the Xpander Cross. Furthermore, the inclusion of 6 SRS Airbags aims to provide an enhanced level of safety for drivers and passengers.

The company has also expanded the Xpander lineup with the introduction of the Exceed Tourer variant, offering a blend of premium aesthetics and features at an accessible price point. This new variant builds upon the existing exceed model with improvements to its exterior and driving-related features.

Exterior and Interior Enhancements

The New Xpander maintains its stylish design, characterized by its large dimensions and sporty appearance. Key exterior updates include a redesigned front, side, and rear, featuring a new signature grille, aero blade skirt, and LED fog light design.It also boasts a black headlight extension frame and new alloy wheel designs in both 17″ two-tone and 16″ options. the door handles and mirror covers now match the body color.

“For the Exceed Tourner variant, we develop it for the entry level segment of the small MPV class… we do some specifications,” said Harling, General Manager of Product Strategy Division of PT MMKSI.

Inside, the Xpander offers a pleasant cabin with ample space for families. Interior enhancements include a keyless operation system and engine push start system (on Exceed CVT & MT variants), a new steering wheel, rear-view camera, and a black interior color scheme. Additional features include adjustable headrests in the second row, a 10″ SDA (Smart Device Request) display, an 8″ LCD meter, soft padding on the door trim, and soft-touch stitching.

Features and Performance

The Xpander retains popular features such as cruise control, keyless operating system with start-stop engine button, a horizontal axis dashboard design, tilt and telescopic steering, digital AC, and multiple storage compartments.It also maintains a high ground clearance of 220mm, rear window defogger, and a 360-degree camera.

Under the hood, the Mitsubishi Xpander continues to utilize a 1.5 MIVEC DOHC 16 Valve engine, paired with a CVT transmission. Safety and performance features include electric Parking Brake (EPB) with Brake Auto Hold (BAH), RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body, ABS, EBD with Brake Assist, Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal System (ESS), Active Stability Control (ASC), and a specially tuned suspension.

Atsushi Kurita of PT MMKSI emphasized the company’s commitment to indonesia, stating that the launch of the New Xpander reflects their dedication to meeting the evolving needs of the community and maintaining the Xpander’s dominance in its respective segments.
