Santiago, October 2025.– Metro de Santiago, together with the Chilean startup Kubi and the logistics company Blue Express, a subsidiary of Copec, presented an alliance that will allow users to collect their online purchases directly at Metro stations, thanks to a smart locker network located in strategic points of the city.
The initiative was born within the framework of the Metro Demo Dayan innovation space that seeks to link startups with specific urban challenges. In that instance, Kubi was the winner of the 2023 version, with a proposal that combines technology and sustainability, through innovation in the last mile industry.
Passengers will be able to withdraw their online purchases from SMEs and businesses throughout the country in smart lockers installed in 22 stations, a network that continues to expand with the goal of reaching 100 withdrawal points by 2026. The system is simple: the user purchases online, selects the withdrawal option in a Kubi Locker, and will receive a PIN or QR code to collect their order at the time that best suits them. The model also incorporates a fleet of foot delivery drivers who supply the lockers directly, reducing vehicle congestion and CO₂ emissions.
Felipe Bravo, general manager of Metro, indicated: “this project is born from the Demo Day that Metro carries out and reflects our commitment to innovation and to continuing to bring people closer to a better city. With this network of smart lockers we offer citizens a new way of shopping, safer, more practical and aligned with urban life. We hope that this service will be very useful not only for the 2.5 million passengers who use Metro every day, but also for the neighbors who live near our stations.”
Meanwhile, Gregorio Elizalde, co-founder of Kubi, stated that “we saw that the global trend is moving towards deliveries outside the home. The Metro is the perfect place to do it: it allows e-commerce orders to be delivered to each person’s favorite station, within their daily route and with the comfort and security offered by its network and its schedules. Today it is joined by Blue Express, a leader in this modality and connected to thousands of businesses throughout Chile.”
“At Blue Express we have built the largest out-of-home delivery network in Chile, with more than 3,000 pickup points distributed throughout the country. The incorporation of lockers in Metro stations reinforces this ecosystem, expanding our logistics solutions and further simplifying electronic commerce for people. We want each delivery to be synonymous with trust and flexibility, creating a more agile and convenient experience for both those who send and those who pick up their orders,” said Olivier Paccot, general manager of Blue. Express.
