The WTO has given the green light to the European Union, which could demand sanctions against the United States over customs duties affecting Spanish olives.
The World Trade Organization (WTO) announced on Wednesday that the European Union was authorized to demand sanctions against the United States in the dispute between them over American customs duties on imports of Spanish olives.
The European Union can request from the WTO Dispute Settlement Body “authorization to suspend concessions or other obligations in an amount not exceeding USD 13.64 million per year”, according to the report of the WTO panel examining the matter.
