The world of German broadcasting is mourning the loss of Marcus Werner, a prominent moderator, author, and columnist known for his journalistic passion. He passed away at the age of 51 after battling a serious illness. The WDR (west German Broadcasting) has expressed its condolences.
According to the WDR, “Marcus Werner, moderator of the ‘Local Time OWL’ in the WDR, is dead. The moderator, journalist and author died at the age of 51 after a serious illness.” The broadcaster added, “He not only leaves a large gap in the WDR, but also a legacy full of optimism and journalistic passion.” Werner had been the moderator of “local time owl” for over 15 years.
Beyond his role as a moderator, “he was in front of the camera for various productions and transmitters, was a accomplished novel and non-fiction author and wrote as a columnist in Wirtschaftswoche about ‘the everyday minor matters in the economy that are worthy of being lovingly blown up’,” the WDR stated.
