Maduro & 6ix9ine: Unexpected Prison Mates in NYC

The former Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro shares a prison in New York with the controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9inewho began serving a short sentence this week at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn.

The 29-year-old artist, whose real name is Daniel Hernandezhe surrendered to the authorities on Tuesday accompanied by influencer Adin Rosswhile a camera crew broadcast live his arrival at the prison, according to Telemundo 51.

The musician, known for his multicolored hair and provocative style, has more than 24 million followers on Instagram and a long history of problems with the law for assaults, links with gangs and drug possession.

MDC Brooklyn, a high-security federal prison, currently houses about 1,200 detainees and has been described by some judges as a “hell on earth” due to poor living conditions, violence and structural deficiencies.

Maduro and his wife are in the same prison, Cilia Florescaptured on January 3 during a Delta Force military operation ordered by President Donald Trump. He is also detained Luigi Mangioneaccused of the murder of the CEO of United Healthcare.

Tekashi 6ix9ine was sentenced to three months in jail in December after violating the terms of his probation.

Prosecutors say he possessed small amounts of cocaine and ecstasy and that attacked a man in a Florida shopping center. His defense is confident that he will be able to resume his musical career upon release.
