French President Emmanuel Macron announced his country’s official recognition of the State of Palestine, in a speech during the opening of the works of the high -level international conference in order to a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and implement the two -state solution, which started in New York on Monday evening.

Macron said that we can no longer wait to recognize the Palestinian state, and added, “We bear a collective responsibility for our failure so far in building a just peace in the Middle East.”

Macron pointed out that the promise to establish an Arab state in Palestine has not yet been achieved, and we have the duty to draw the path of peace in the Middle East, and to do everything we can to maintain the possibility of achieving a two -state solution.

He said that Israel continues its operations in Gaza with a declared goal, which is to destroy the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), but the lives of thousands of Gazans are still destroying. He continued, “There is no justification for what is happening in Gaza, and the war must be ended to save lives.”

He expressed his sympathy for the Israelis, and demanded an unconditional release of the prisoners held by Hamas.

For his part, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said that the two -state solution conference is a historic opportunity to achieve peace.

The Saudi minister added, in his speech before the conference, that “Israel continues to commit its brutal crimes in Gaza and its violations in the West Bank and the honorable,” calling on the rest of the countries to take the historical step to recognize the Palestinian state.

In turn, the Secretary -General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, considered that the two -state solution requires difficult decisions and bold leadership from all parties, stressing that this solution is consistent with international law and enjoys the support of the international community and the General Assembly.

Guterres stressed, in his speech before the conference, that there is no peace in the Middle East without a two -state solution, pointing out that the establishment of a state for the Palestinians is not a reward but rather a right, calling for the city of Jerusalem to be the capital of the Palestinian and Israeli countries.

He said that those who obstruct the course of the two -state solution must answer a basic question is what the alternative, and demanded the renewal of the commitment to the two -state solution before it is too late.

He called for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and he saw that “there is no justification for what happened on October 7, 2023, nor for the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.”

He also stressed that there is no justification for what is happening in the West Bank, nor for the continued establishment of settlements in it.

As for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, he called, in his speech before the conference through video technology, countries that have not yet recognized the Palestinian state to do so, and said, “We recognized the right of Israel to exist and we still recognize this.”

Abbas affirmed the willingness to work with the partners to implement the peace plan within a specific schedule, and called on Israel to sit at the negotiating table to stop the waterfall, and addressed the Israelis, “Our future and your future lies in peace.

He also stressed the commitment to hold presidential and parliamentary elections within a year of the end of the war in Gaza, and to establish an election law that refuses to participate any party that does not adhere to international legitimacy.

“We want an unarmed country based on pluralism and peaceful circulation of power,” said Abbas, who has deprived the United States of obtaining a visa to attend the conference.

He stressed that “Hamas will not be a role in the ruling, and they have and other factions to hand over weapons to the Palestinian Authority.”

The Palestinian President praised the Egyptian -American mediation, and valued Egypt and Jordan, which rejects displacement, and condemned the brutal attack on the sovereignty of the State of Qatar and other Arab countries.

He said that the Israeli war on the Palestinians should stop immediately, considering that the crimes of the blockade and starvation are not a means of achieving security, and demanded that aid to Gaza and the withdrawal of the occupation from it and the release of the prisoners.

On Monday evening in New York, the International Conference to settle the question of Palestine began with peaceful means and implementing a two -state solution under a joint presidency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France, amid a wave of confessions in the State of Palestine, which Scotland considered it an important but insufficient step, and an American rejection of it.

The summit, which will be held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, will witness the recognition of 10 countries officially in a Palestinian state, after a day of similar recognition issued by Britain, Canada, Australia and Portugal.
