After a 112-year absence, a new river public transportation service, Navigône, has commenced operations on the Saône River today, June 18. The shuttle will connect Vaise-Industrie (9ᵉ arrondissement) to the peninsula (2ᵉ arrondissement) in an estimated 23 minutes, with an extended 40-minute route to the confluence.

Initially hesitant, elected environmentalists of the Metropolis of Lyon ultimately embraced the river shuttle project, integrating it into the TCL network after the cancellation of the cable car project between Francheville and Lyon.
