The Grand Music Awards ceremony is once again publicly available in person

After a break of several years, the Grand Music Prize presentation ceremony and the celebratory concert will again be available to the public in person, inform VSIA “Latvijas Koncerti” representatives. This year the event will take place on March 6, 2026 in the “Cēsis” concert hall. Tickets for the event are already on sale.

Ceremony and concert in Cēsis

The Grand Music Award is the highest Latvian state award in music, which has been presented since 1993. Laureates will be honored during the ceremony, while the best Latvian musicians will perform at the festive concert. The event is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia in cooperation with VSIA “Latvijas Koncerti”.

Preserving tradition and prestige

The high prestige of the Grand Music Prize is ensured by the work of a respectable jury, whose members attend concerts throughout the year and meet monthly in meetings to evaluate the performance of artists. At the beginning of January, the jury nominates the nominees, who are announced at a press conference, while the laureates become known only at the presentation ceremony itself.

The view of the Minister of Culture

The Minister of Culture, Agnese Lāce, emphasizes that by holding the award ceremony outside of Riga, the emphasis is placed on Latvia as an excellent example of providing state support for high-quality cultural events in all regions.
