The Korean men’s tennis team shared one win each with Argentina on the first day of the national competition Davis Cup.
Korea, led by coach Jeong Jong-sam, finished with 1 win and 1 loss on the first day of the first round of the 2026 Davis Cup Tennis Tournament final qualification (qualifier) held at Gijang Gymnasium in Busan on the 7th.

In the tiebreak of the first set, which was the deciding factor, Kwon Soon-woo increased his momentum by scoring two consecutive points in a game that was tied at 6-6. He then won the second set by overwhelming his opponent.
The first round of the competition will be held in 4 singles and 1 doubles format, and the doubles pair of Nam Ji-seong (164th in doubles, Dangjin City Hall) and Park Eui-seong (224th in doubles, Daegu City Hall) will participate. The 3rd and 4th singles matches will be played alternately with the 1st and 2nd singles matches held on the 7th. If Korea wins this match, it will play the winner of the Netherlands and India in the second round of the qualifier in September. If you lose, you will be relegated to World Group 1.
The Davis Cup is divided into three levels: Finals, where the world’s top eight compete, Qualifiers, where 26 countries compete for a spot in the Finals, and World Group 1, the level below that.
