Director Lee Sang-il’s kabuki epic “Kokuho” won big at the Japan Academy Film Prize on Friday evening, taking 10 awards including best picture and best director to cap a historic box-office run.
“Kokuho” triumphed over fellow best picture nominees “Hero’s Island,” “Suzuki=Bakudan,” “First Kiss” and “Tokyo Taxi.”
While accepting the award, Lee reflected on the collaborative effort behind the film’s success.
