A stabbing attack occurred at a factory in Japan and left 14 people injured. Apart from the stabbing, the perpetrator is also said to have sprayed liquid.
“Fourteen people are being transported by emergency services,” Mishima city Fire Department official Tomoharu Sugiyama said. AFPFriday (26/12/2025).
He said a call was received at around 16.30 local time from a rubber factory. Initial reports said five or six people were stabbed by someone and that a ‘spray-like liquid’ had also been used.

Japanese media, including public broadcasters NHKreported police had arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder. Daily newspaper Asahi Shimbun citing investigative sources as saying the man in his 30s was someone associated with the factory.
The perpetrator was wearing what appeared to be a gas mask. The Asahi also reported the perpetrator appeared to be armed with what was described as a survival knife.
Sugiyama said at least six of the 14 victims had been taken to hospital in ambulances. The exact nature of the injuries is also unclear.
The factory in Mishima is managed by Yokohama Rubber Co, whose business includes making tires for trucks and buses. Violent crime is relatively rare in Japan, which has a low murder rate and some of the strictest firearms laws in the world.
But stabbing attacks and even shootings occasionally occur. Including the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2022.
