International leaders from countries such as United Arab Emirates, Canada, United Kingdom, France o Germanycondemned this Saturday, in a joint statement, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and they asked Iran a de-escalation in the conflict.
“We condemn in the strongest terms the recent attacks by Iran against unarmed commercial vessels in the Gulfattacks on civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas facilities, and the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz by the Iranian naval forces,” states the document, also signed by Japan, Netherlands e Italiaamong others.
“We express our deep concern about the escalation of the conflict. We call on Iran to immediately cease its threats, mine-laying, drone and missile attacks, as well as other attempts to block the Strait to commercial shipping, and to comply with Resolution 2817 of the UN Security Council“, continues the document.
The countries call to reduce the escalation of the conflict and to avoid actions that could put international navigation at risk, to respect international law and the principles of freedom of maritime transit. EFE.
