Shopping Sundays 2026. What next with the ban on trading on Sundays?

In 2024, the Parliament did not adopt any changes to the regulations regarding the Sunday trading ban. In 2025, the topic was also not raised by the Sejm again. As a result, the existing regulations are still in force, which allow trading only on eight Sundays a year.

The most important change is the introduction of a day off on Christmas Eve and the addition of the third Sunday in December to the list of commercial Sundays. This is intended to make shopping before Christmas easier, especially for people who postpone it until the last minute.

Other proposals, such as partial relaxation of the Sunday trading ban, shortening store opening hours or extending exceptions, are still being considered by parliamentary committees. This means that in 2026 the rules will not change. Shopping in larger stores and shopping centers will only be possible on the designated eight shopping Sundays.
