A major traffic incident occurred on Interstate 10 in Gadsden County on June 14th when a tractor trailer crossed the median and overturned, leading to a secondary collision with another semi-truck.Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the initial accident took place around 10:30 p.m. A tractor trailer, driven by a 24-year-old California man and carrying a 23-year-old passenger, was traveling eastbound on I-10 near mile marker 191.
The FHP report indicates that the driver “ran off the roadway, overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn onto its side.” The overturned truck then slid into the westbound lanes, effectively blocking all lanes of traffic.
A second semi-truck, operated by a 61-year-old man from Doral, was heading west and “took evasive actions … to avoid a collision but was unsuccessful,” ultimately colliding with the overturned tractor trailer, according to the FHP.
The FHP confirmed that neither truck driver nor the passenger in the first truck sustained any injuries. In line with their policy, the FHP does not release the names of individuals involved in traffic crashes.
Multiple agencies assisted the Florida highway Patrol at the scene, including the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Department, Midway Police Department, Gadsden County EMS, Midway fire Department, quincy Fire Department, Wetumpka Volunteer Fire Department, and Gretna Fire Department.
