János Lázár reported on the snow situation on his Facebook page, according to the Minister of Construction and Transportation, the weather is free of precipitation throughout the country. He reminded that the expressways are “predominantly dry, or during the continuous defense they are wet with salt.” He said that the exception to this is Tapolca, where the road can be muddy. The side roads in Southern Transdanubia and along the eastern border are still covered in snow and slush. Although visibility is generally favorable, “fog makes traffic difficult” in the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county.
Magyar Közút and concession operating companies have a total of 83,082.98 tons of salt and 2,182,036 liters of CaCl2 solution available, and 36 machines are currently performing the tasks. As of 00:00 on Monday, January 5, Magyar Közút used 39,549 tons of salt and 1,844,847 liters of solution, while the concession companies used approximately 9,844.88 tons of salt and 1,124,999 liters of solution for de-skid
said the minister.
János Lázár emphasized that the stations will remain open: “We have opened all possible bus and railway waiting rooms, and we are open 24 hours a day in order to be able to provide assistance even in freezing weather.”
He also pointed out that the cleaning of switches on the railway is continuous, but “due to the blowing of snow and the amount of snow, the cleaning is progressing slowly, it is concentrated on highlighted junctions, the switch heaters are working fine for the most part, however, due to the extremely cold weather, this is no longer sufficient in several places, and there are switch failures in several places”. The minister believes that the trains “typically run on time, but mainly in the eastern part of the country there are average delays of 15-30 minutes”.
Interruptions in bus traffic are not experienced in most places due to road conditions, but some settlements are still not accessible by bus due to blowing snow. Due to the road conditions, the following settlements are not affected by buses: Tagyospuszta, Kéked, Felsőkéked, Pányok, Abod, Galvács, Dinnyeberki
he announced.
Finally, the minister added that a “Békásmegyer-Batthyány tér-Békásmegyer train was missed due to a vehicle failure caused by the cold weather on the H5 line”, but the HÉV traffic is otherwise continuous.
