Human remains were discovered and recovered Tuesday in Blatten (VS), in the Tennmatten zone. The identification of the body has not yet been made, but the authorities were looking for an announced sixty -year -old disappeared after the landslide on May 28.
The discovery was made as part of a coordinated research operation in the region, under the direction of the Valais police, announces the latter. These operations are carried out in stages, each of them being authorized by the cantonal driving body and taking place in a secure area.
The macabre discovery was made during a targeted search in a predefined area on the dejection cone. The formal identification procedure has been launched.

The police had gone in search of a 64-year-old sheep breeder who has disappeared since the devastating collapse of the Birch glacier, who buried the Haut-Valais village of some 300 souls.
