A Visionary Owner with Deep Roots
Benjamin Daniel, the owner of Haus Carola since late 2021, brings a wealth of experience to this project. Having trained at the Hotel Pabst on Juist in 1995 and later mastering his craft at the Steigenberger Academy in Bad Reichenhall, Daniel is no stranger to the hospitality industry. His past involvement with the “Spieker” in Bad Zwischenahn and the growth of the “Scholjegerdes Hof” demonstrate his ability to blend historical preservation with modern functionality.

Despite the unique challenges posed by the island setting, daniel, along with his wife Monika, is committed to providing personalized care to their guests. the pension currently offers 35 beds in 17 lovingly renovated rooms, catering to single travelers, couples, and families.
Extensive Renovations: A Multi-phased Approach
The recent construction phase saw a complete overhaul of the facades on the first floor, including the replacement of wall anchors, joints, windows, and window sills. The gable roof and four flat roofs were also extensively renovated with energy efficiency in mind. The meticulous planning ensured that all scaffolding-dependent work was completed within a single construction period, a feat for which Daniel expressed gratitude to the involved craft companies.
Inside, the renovations included new water pipes, heating pipes, and electrical wiring, and also a complete renovation of the attic as part of the roof work. Fire protection measures were also implemented to ensure the safety of guests and staff.
Looking Ahead: A Centennial Celebration
The renovation project is being carried out in stages,with the ground floor,first floor,and basement still to be addressed. The ultimate goal is to have the entire house completely renovated by 2029, in time for its 100th anniversary. Historical records indicate that the first guest at Haus carola was a woman from Bremen, marking the beginning of a long and storied history.

During the renovation process, Haus Carola received unexpected recognition when it was placed under monument protection.
