Since 2019, the two counties have been following the construction of the bridge on the left mill over the Hohenwartestausee. The bridge, which was destroyed in World War II, is to be rebuilt between Altenroth and Linkenmühle and significantly shorten the travel times for the residents south of the reservoir. So far, a ferry has been going over the lake in the summer months.
The two residents’ districts had closed the last formal agreement for the construction project in March 2024. With this, an application for funding for the construction project was launched. The Federal Office of Mobility and Logistics had promised this promise in December 2024. As stated from the district office in Saalfeld, it was therefore now necessary that the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt and the Saale-Orla-Kreis have agreed to carry out the construction project.
