British singer Harry Styles has added two more dates to the series of concerts he will give in Amsterdam in May and June. The 31-year-old Styles will now perform ten times in the Johan Cruijff Arena between May 15 and June 5, which is unique. He easily breaks the record of De Toppers, who performed six times in a row at the Ajax stadium in 2007.
The last solo artist to even come close to Styles when it comes to a series of Arena shows was Robbie Williams, with four concerts in a row in 2006. Williams shared that record with René Froger and in July, American Bruno Mars will also perform four times.
Froger already responded last week to losing his shared record, when it was announced that Styles would come to Amsterdam for at least six concerts. “Fantastic!” Froger wrote on Instagram. “But I never thought in terms of records, only in beautiful moments.”
Styles last performed in the Netherlands in 2023. He then gave three concerts in the Arena. Concert organizer Mojo cites “high demand” as the reason for today’s two extra concerts. There was a huge run on tickets after the announcement of the first concerts. Besides London (Wembley), Amsterdam is the only place in Europe that Styles will visit in his new tour.
Regular ticket sales for the concerts in Amsterdam start on Friday, but tickets were also for sale via so-called presales for people who had already pre-ordered Styles’ new album.
54 concerts, seven cities
The singer announced last week Together, Togethertour on. It will be his third world tour and is linked to his new album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionallywhich will be released in March.
The tour kicks off in Amsterdam on May 16 and ends in Sydney in December. Styles is currently only performing the 54 concerts announced so far in seven cities. In America, for example, he will perform no fewer than thirty times in the famous Madison Square Garden in New York after the summer.
One Direction
Styles became world famous as the singer of the boy group One Direction. The group members met at the British version of the talent program The X Factor and were particularly successful with a young audience. After the band announced it would be taking a hiatus in 2015, the members continued as solo artists.
Although all members had and are successful to a greater or lesser extent, Styles is by far the most popular of them. He scored several world hits such as Sign of the Times (2017), Watermelon Sugar (2020) in As It Was (2022)
