In the south of France, at least three people were killed due to bad weather, French media report. After a heavy storm and heavy rainfall this morning, the bodies of two people were found in Le Lavandou, between Toulon and St. Tropez. A body was also found in Vidauban‘s slightly more north.
Two more people are missing. Due to the bad weather, streets in the municipalities were quickly under water. Hundreds of households do not have access to electricity and water. The roads are also closed.
According to the public prosecutor in Toulon, the two victims in Le Lavandou were surprised by the rapidly rising water. It’s about an older couple.

The mayor of Vidauban announced the death of the third victim. A car with two people drove into a country road that was completely flooded and ended up in the ditch, the mayor writes. Only one of them could be saved on time. According to Metéo-France, there was certainly 187 millimeters of rain in the municipality in a short time.
The municipality of Vidauban called on parents not to pick up school for the time being. The school will provide meals.
More than 300 firefighters have been deployed, the local authorities report.
