Petr Kotvald and Women: The past that returns with an apology
Singer Petr Kotvald, who we remember as one of the icons of the Czech pop of the 1980s, has recently appeared in the media not because of the new album, but because of the apology.
The apology, which was late, but still – and which is still lying on his heart.
At one of the concerts where he was carried away by the atmosphere, he switched to his faithful fans a sentence that was supposed to be funny but did not sound happily at all:
“Girls you are great, amazing, but please don’t age, it’s no longer looking for it.”
As is the case with similar unfortunate bonmots, the reaction was not long in coming. While part of the audience took it with humor, some women took the remark in person – and no wonder. After years of loyalty, when Kotvald literally matured, danced and aged, similar words could hurt.
But Kotvald did not remain indifferent

In an interview for a prestigious show 7 falls of Honza Dědek came back to the incident with sincere self -reflection: “I apologized to everyone and sorry again! I didn’t realize how it could sound.” He admitted that his colleagues from the choir at that time had been in his face with humor: “Have you ever seen you in the mirror?” And this moment made him rethink the situation.
His apology was not only formal but human
And that is so much appreciated today. He recalled that even artists, even if they float on a wave of popularity, can come out of the way – and that there is no shame to face it. Kotvald proved that a true personality is not known by the number of hits, but by whether he can say “sorry”.
At the same time, he opened an important topic: How do celebrities and their audience age? How does their relationship change? And how difficult is it for some singers to accept the fact that they no longer sing for the crowds, but for women who have been carrying them in their heart for decades?
Meanwhile, Kotvald returns to his music. Its newer creation, including the current song Komta PMHshows that it has not froze in the past. With elegance, he can connect memories with modern sound and message of openness.
Mature man who goes with the time
Among other things, the clip thematizes diversity and tolerance – further evidence that Kotvald did not become a nostalgic singer, but a man who goes with the times.
Perhaps thanks to this approach, the fans will forgive his ancient remark. After all, who knows that Idol has the right to a mistake. And that the words hurt – but sincerity heals.
