More than two years after the announcement of his cancer, Florent Pagny is doing better. “I had rapid recurrences. There, I’m fine. If two years later, I’m talking to you the way I’m talking to you and I have the banana, that’s okay“, he says with a smile on his lips to Audrey Crespo-Mara, in the show Seven to Eightbroadcast this Sunday, December 28, 2025 and for which the journalist went to Dordogne where he is from. Florent Pagny has indeed left behind him the traces of his lung cancerwhich was inoperable when diagnosed.
After following several chemotherapy and immunotherapy protocols, the singer now leads a life far from hospitals. He must nevertheless submit to regular checkups to ensure that he is not the victim of a repeat offense. “It’s every three months. We all know that this thing doesn’t leave you forever. It’s not bronchitis. We know it can last. I’ll still have checks for a good ten years.” he detailed after showing the TF1 journalist around his home in Dordogne, which he shares with his dear and tender Azucena.
Florent Pagny: what cancer has changed in his life
Cancer turned the life of the successful singer upside down. Audrey Crespo-Mara also asked him how the illness had changed his life and the singer then admitted on the artistic side: “She changed a lot of things in my life, in my career. It increased a lot of things.” He observes in particular that his audience is more there than ever: “If I give you the example of my next tour. Here, I am preparing a tour as I used to prepare my tours… There I sold [les billets] in four days. It’s changed a little.”
Florent Pagny never thought about death
The singer explains this enthusiasm in particular because his audience was more worried about him than himself. “The imagination of others buried me more than I did. People looked at me more with that look of ‘he’s going to die’ than at me,” he analyzed even though his death had not necessarily occurred to him by his own admission. Indeed, Florent Pagny always had the feeling of being far from the cases of some of his acquaintances who were suffering from very advanced cancers.
He thus detailed his feelings towards the widow of Thierry Ardisson: “I have never had this feeling. I have never found myself like in the cases of friends who left. I’ve been around people who have things much worse than me.who could perhaps project themselves with this end-of-life story but that’s not my case.” “It was always a tumor, caught in time, treated, which went away. I never said to myself ‘I’m going to do it'”, he concluded with serenity.
