Addressing attendees, including League leader and Deputy Prime Minister Mateo Salvini, Musk emphasized the potential benefits of reduced trade barriers and increased mobility for citizens.

Specifically, Musk stated his hope that the U.S.and Europe could forge a very close relationship… in terms of tariffs that, after all, [are] ideal, between North America and Europe. This vision aligns with ongoing discussions about fostering economic growth through international cooperation and free trade agreements.

That would be my advice to the president, he remarked, suggesting a potential easing of immigration policies and visa restrictions. This proposal comes at a time when global migration patterns are increasingly complex, with debates raging over border security and labor market needs.

Political Alignments and Economic Tensions

Musk’s appearance at the League event underscores his existing ties to right-wing political figures in Italy.He has previously expressed support for Prime Minister Georgia Meloni and her “Italian brothers” party, further solidifying his connections within the Italian political landscape. Last month, he thanked Salvini for promoting his company Starlink for the Italian satellite communication system.

Though,Musk’s call for closer ties contrasts with recent statements from some European officials. Italian Minister of Economy, Jean -George George, representing a right-wing party, recently expressed concerns about potential trade conflicts with the U.S., particularly in response to proposed tariffs.
