Ecuador & US Intercept Weapons Shipment – October 2025

by Archynetys World Desk

The National Police of Ecuador, “in coordinated work with the United States,” intercepted vessels on the high seas that “were transporting packages containing firearms and intended to be entered into the country illegally,” the Minister of the Interior, John Reimberg, indicated this Monday (10/27/2025) on the social network X.

The official added that “they coordinated with the Ecuadorian Navy for the transfer of the seized weapons to an Ecuadorian port” and announced that the shipment would be taken to Galapagos, about 1,000 kilometers from the coast of the South American country.

Ecuador is going through an unprecedented escalation of violence, caused by the increase in the activity of organized criminal gangs, linked to drug trafficking and illegal mining, among other criminal activities, according to the government.

This situation led President Daniel Noboa to declare an “internal armed conflict” in January 2024 against criminal structures, which he describes as “terrorists.”
